In 1989, Robert Mills and son, Ray Mills, started Kudu Industries Inc. in the family’s garage. Since then the Company has expanded throughout Western Canada and into the USA, with distributors in Venezuela, Columbia, Russia, offices in Australia, Kazakhstan and installations around the world.

Robert has lead Kudu through dynamic organizational changes to become a model of lean manufacturing. By incorporating Japanese manufacturing principles and ‘Lean Thinking’ the Company has reduced inventory by 75% and doubled manufacturing with the same staff and less floor space, while increasing service to customers. Mr. Mills calls this transformation ‘High Performance Culture’.

The National Research Council of Canada recognizes Kudu Industries Inc. as a world class company and has awarded Kudu with the Innovation Insights Award for manufacturing practices. Chairman, Robert A.R. Mills is frequent speaker for the Canadian Manufacturing and Exporters. Mr. Mills lectures on lean manufacturing principles such as “Just in Time Manufacturing” and relates Kudu’s success incorporating Japanese manufacturing principles into practice. In 1998, Kudu was awarded as one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Managed Private Companies in Canada.

The head office and manufacturing facility is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
