Top Tag™ System
KUDU’s patented Top Tag system is the first engineered Progressing Cavity Pump Top Tag allowing the user to locate the rotor inside the stator without using a tag bar.

It enables a paddled rotor to directly agitate the fluid within the casing rather than being limited to the fluid entering the tag bar. Top Tag reduces burnt pumps due to plugged pump intake as the rotor continuously clears the stator intake, and reduces rotor breakage as the rotor is never run in compression on the tag bar.
Typical PC Pump Installation
Top Tag Installation
Remove the Tag Bar and Achieve:
- Elimination of restriction and plugging potential.
- Easy access to coil into the annulus and clean out sump.
- Reduced frequency of flushing, loading and coiling interventions.
- Decreased number of burnt pumps.
- Increased fluid agitation with an exposed rotor paddle in the annulus.
Over 3,000 installs in the Lloydminster area in Alberta, Canada since 2007 confirms Top Tag is great for producing high Centralizer viscosity and high sand cut wells.
The Top Tag Advantage:
- Increase pump run life.
- Improve wellbore agitation.
- Increase fillage and intake access.
- Great for limited sump applications.
- Less jewelry at the bottom.
- Same space out procedure as a tag bar.
- Rotor continuously clears the pump intake.
- No downhole restrictions.
Engineered for Maximum Benefits
| INCREASE PUMP RUN LIFE |
Exposed rotor in the annulus increases wellbore agitation and gas break out. There is more mixing of sand and oil. |
| SIMPLIFY TROUBLESHOOTING |
Plugged pump intake will not occur when using a Top Tag, making trouble shooting easier. |
| EQUIPMENT SAVINGS |
Reduced cost compared to spring loaded tag bars. |
| REUSABLE |
Can be easily removed and installed on a replacement stator. |
| REPAIRABLE |
If worn, the Top Tag plate can be replaced instead of the entire collar. |
| REBUILD |
Top Tag can be re-threaded if needed. |
