Driveheads
KUDU’s Driveheads are manufactured in our ISO 9001:2000 certified facility located in Calgary Alberta, Canada and are specifically designed for Progressing Cavity Pumps (PCPs).

PUSH YOUR OPERATION INTO HIGH GEAR
Ranging from 40 to 200 horsepower, KUDU’s durable Driveheads are engineered for safety and reliability while minimizing environmental impact. KUDU Driveheads have proven performance in heavy to light oil, dewatering, and coal bed methane operations.
MEETING YOUR NEEDS
KUDU incorporates the following critical features to ensure safety and environmental standards are met:
- Enclosed moving parts ensure worker safety
- Balanced lift points for safer and easier installation
- Patented automatic anti-lock backspin control ensures safe servicing and peace of mind
- Oryx rotary and integral seals eliminate site contamination and replaces the conventional stuffing box
- Low maintenance design means less down time and greater reliability
- High temperature rating for thermal applications (optional)
VH 40 HP 5.6T
Designed for lighter applications, the VH 40 HP 5.6T can handle operations requiring up to 40 horsepower. It is rated for 5.6 tonnes of axial rod string load. Available in hydraulic and electric versions, both feature back spin control systems for added safety.

VHGH 60 HP
The hydraulic VHGH 60 Drivehead is safe, reliable and operator friendly. KUDU’s integral seal, bearings and gear set are kept separate from the hydraulic system; therefore, avoiding contamination and costly repairs on hydraulic skid units. The VHGH 60 uses gear oil instead of hydraulic fluid to lubricate the gear set and bearings, further adding to the unit’s reliability and longevity. The patented integral seal is low maintenance and completely seals off well bore fluid. The separate packing seal requires no set-up or pressure setting. The VHGH 60 Drivehead has no polished rod wear due to its internal hollow shaft design.
To ensure worker safety, the VHGH 60 uses an internal gear set, which eliminates belts and sheaves. Unit installation is easy due to its compact low weight design and balanced lifting points, making it ideal for slant well applications. The Drivehead’s quiet operation makes it an excellent choice for noise sensitive areas. One of the many benefits of the VHGH 60 is the ease of operation to flush the well. The flush-by operator simply lifts up on the polished rod, as no special procedures are required to unset or loosen the top packing seal.

VH 60 HP 8T
This low profile electric drive is also available in a hydraulic version. An internal pump assembly eliminates external brake lines, reducing the possibility of leaks and environmental contamination. Servicing is simple, as the brake pads are easily accessible. The VH 60 HP 8T uses KUDU’s Oryx rotary seal, which prolongs the life of the seal assembly.

VH 125
The VH 125 is safe, reliable and operator friendly. It uses KUDU’s low maintenance integral seal to cut off wellbore fluid and the separate packing seal requires no set up or pressure setting. For additional safety, the VH 125 uses an anti-ejection mechanism on the polish rod to keep it in place. This Drivehead is transported with its own stand to ensure easy installation and workovers. The VH 125 also incorporates a new braking system to control backspin at a rate between 200 rpm and 500 rpm. This system ensures full fluid dump, reducing the potential for residual fluid in the tubing. The VH 125 is ATEX Certified for use in explosive environments.

VH 200 HP 18T
The undisputed “Power House” of KUDU’s Drivehead line, this high capacity drive delivers up to 200 horsepower with 18 tonnes of axial load allowing producers to run KUDU’s highest volume progressing cavity pumps.

ORYX ROTARY SEAL
The patented Oryx rotary seal is low maintenance and has a zero tolerance for leaks. Utilizing an early warning seal failure system it helps to minimize your operations environmental impact while still delivering outstanding performance. The Oryx rotary seal exceeds EUB environmental standards and is field serviceable.
